Literacy support toolbar with text-to-speech, word prediction, picture dictionary and vocabulary tools.
What it is good at
A mature accessibility-grade toolset rather than a consumer reader — word prediction, picture dictionaries and vocabulary building work together. Widely accepted by disability services offices, so it often already has institutional footing. The picture dictionary is unusually good for beginning vocabulary.
Use it for
Supporting students through a dense assigned reading with the picture dictionary and translation tools active in the margin. Giving students with documented print disabilities a single toolbar that follows them across Word, the browser and PDFs.
Where it falls short
Read&Write is free for K-12 teachers and that offer does NOT extend to community college faculty — a persistent source of confusion worth stating plainly. Individual licensing at $184/year is steep and higher-ed pricing is quote-only. The Texthelp-to-Everway rebrand means much existing campus documentation now points to dead pages.
Cost and capability details last verified Sep 20, 2026. Pricing in this category moves fast — confirm on the vendor’s own page before committing a course to it.
